INSPIRATION
"As the alchemy unfolds, breathe, observe, remain in your center... and then forget that you are there." B. Bartholomew

Thank you for visiting my "Jewelry Portfolio" website.
I design one-of-a-kind and limited edition jewelry that follows instinct rather than convention. By creating "personal touchstones" for my collectors, I hope that my work will be passed down to future generations.
I have always been drawn to antiquities as they seem to have an energy that resonates with my aesthetic. My goal is to create pieces that will speak to my customers like the works of the ancients have spoken to me.
Although old world jewelry influences my themes, the process is even more compelling. Each new work takes me on a journey as I allow the materials to direct the final outcome.
My clients include artists, actors, writers, musicians and independent thinkers that choose to set their own style and stand out from the crowd.
In keeping with my deep respect and concern for our fragile Earth, I use ethically sourced, reclaimed and repurposed materials to build my collections.
Please visit the CONTACT page to find out where my work is currently available.

BIOGRAPHY

My fascination with making things began with watching and learning from my father who had a tool and die shop in the Pacific Northwest. He was always tinkering with things and introduced me to working with tools and materials. I knew then that I needed to work with my hands.
My mother was a skilled seamstress and was always making things as well. Gifted with more patience than I had, she made crafting look effortless and fun. This rubbed off on me from a very young age and has continued to influence my expression.
After secondary school I pursued a Fine Arts and Theatre Arts education where I studied the fundamentals of Art and Design as well as jewelry and costume. This path led me to Los Angeles where I graduated from The Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design.
The Wearable Art Movement was in full force during this time and became a perfect vehicle for my work. By mixing sculpture and painting with jewelry and costume, I felt that I had found my voice in creating art for the body. While experimenting in body ornament I kept working on my metal skills by taking workshops and started to build a collection of one-of-a-kind jewelry. I was fortunate to have studied with the late Master Goldsmith, Clemente Urrutia who taught me so much about jewelry techniques and tool making.
I was also drawn to the Motion Picture Industry as a specialty costumer, designer and stylist and have created and collaborated on works for film, television and live productions. These projects have given me the opportunity to work with many talented crafters and artists, including the acclaimed costume designer, Bob Ringwood. I am so grateful to have been able to work with Bob and have learned so much from him. He is one of the most creative and inspiring artists that I have ever known.
Through Bob Ringwood I met Stacia Lang, a fellow specialty costumer who is so amazing and talented. We continue to share ideas, inspiration and collaborations.
I am inspired by the environmental artist, Andy Goldsworthy, the architect Gaudi, the ancient metal smiths, the modernist jewelers, painters including; Rauschenberg, Diebenkorn, Gustav Klimt, Agnes Martin , Franz Klein and the late Barbara Bartholomew.

Today, I draw from all of my experiences as I focus primarily on jewelry and metalwork by incorporating traditional metalsmithing with ancient and modern influences.
